She soon gets her chance when she travels to New. ![]() The film was adapted by none other than Julian Fellowes himself, and Michael Engler directed it. Louise Brooks is a rebellious 15-year-old schoolgirl who dreams of fame and fortune in the early 1920s. The Chaperone is based on Moriarty’s 2012 bestselling novel of the same name, and McGovern is hardly the only Downton connection it sports. The Chaperone, which was written by Abbey creator and writer Julian Fellowes, will star Elizabeth McGovern, who played Lady Grantham in the hit series, PBS and Masterpiece announced on. (If you're an Amazon Prime user, it’s also available on Amazon Prime Video, as well.) The film had a brief theatrical run earlier this year, and his been available to stream for PBS Passport members since early August. The Edge of Seventeen's Haley Lu Richardson stars opposite McGovern as Louise, and the two women are joined by a cast that includes Campbell Scott, Géza Röhrig, Miranda Otto and Blythe Danner. The film will air the weekend before Thanksgiving, on Sunday, November 24, 2019. Norma Carlisle (Elizabeth McGovern), a local society matron who never broke a rule in her life, impulsively volunteers to accompany Louise to New York for a surprising, whirlwind summer. She’s accompanied on this journey by local society matron Norma Carlisle (McGovern), and the developing relationship between the two forms the spine of the movie. The film follows the real-life story of actress Louise Brooks and tells a fictionalized account of her travels from Wichita, Kansas to New York City, where she attended the Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts.
